HomeBINUBUHAY ANG MGA LARO NG ATING LAHI

LUCKY ME! LARONG PINOY PROMOTES FUN, HEALTHY, AND ACTIVE PLAY BY REVIVING THE FILIPINO TRADITIONAL STREET GAMES WE ALL GREW UP WITH SUCH AS PATINTERO, TUMBANG PRESO, SIPANG BILANGAN, PIKO, SIYATO, LUKSONG TINIK, TRUMPO, HOLEN, KAPITANG BAKOD, AND KIKBOL.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MAGNA KULTURA FOUNDATION, AN EDUCATION-FOR-DEVELOPMENT NGO THAT PROVIDES ART AND CULTURE ACTIVITIES FOR YOUTHS AND ADULTS IN SCHOOLS AND BARANGAYS, LUCKY ME! LARONG PINOY IS DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL, SOCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN WHILE THEY ARE HAVING FUN WITH FRIENDS IN THEIR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD.

BUT BEYOND MAKING THE FUN AND EXCITEMENT BROUGHT BY PLAYING TRADITIONAL PINOY GAMES A CONTINUING EXPERIENCE FOR THE NEW GENERATION OF FILIPINO YOUTH, LUCKY ME! LARONG PINOY SENDS THE MESSAGE THAT OUTDOOR PLAY PROMOTES GOOD CITIZENSHIP IN A COMMUNITY AS IT ENHANCES THE CHILDREN’S LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT OF CERTAIN SOCIAL SKILLS SUCH AS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT VIEWPOINTS THAT DIFFER FROM THEIR OWN, BEING SENSITIVE TO OTHERS’ NEEDS AND VALUES, HANDLING EXCLUSION AND DOMINANCE, MANAGING THEIR EMOTIONS, LEARNING SELF-CONTROL AND PROBLEM-SOLVING AND SHARING POWER, SPACE, AND IDEAS WITH OTHERS.

FINALLY, THROUGH THIS LARONG PINOY PROGRAM, LUCKY ME! AND MAGNA KULTURA FOUNDATION HOPE TO HELP STRENGTHEN THE FILIPINO IDENTITY AND CULTURE AND PROVIDE A VENUE FOR PASSING DOWN RICH TRADITIONS, GOOD VALUES, AND UNIQUELY FILIPINO GAME JARGON.

BUHAYIN NATIN ANG MGA LARO NG ATING LAHI. BUHAYIN NATIN ANG MGA KOMUNIDAD.

maybe you could tie-up with schools to include the traditional street games during annual sportsfests as well as in Physical Education subjects. you could also sponsor these games during fiestas.

We had a homeschool activity a few years ago and we did Filipino games like "tumbang preso," "sipa," and the like. We looked for mga "gagambang bahay" para makawitness sila ng labanan ng gagamba na nakalagay pa sa matchboxes at maglalaban sa stick. Wala lang kaming nakita.
Our kids loved playing Pinoy games, especially "tumbang preso." We wore traditional Filipino clothes and tried to speak pure Tagalog that day. It was a lot of fun! Can you please inform us if you have any event that we can participate in? We would appreciate it.
Salamat sa pagbisita sa aming site at

I don't see kids playing tumbang preso, sipa, trumpo at iba. Specially my newphews and nieces, they're always in front of the computer this days. Kudos to your group for reviving these old ways of having fun :)
Thanks for your reply-post. It is really our advocacy, not only to revive the games moreso to instill among the new generation Filipino nationalism and pride in our heritage. Like you said, nowadays it's all computers and DVDs --- not that we don't like PCs and movies, we should also keep up with technology and appreciate other cultures as well --- but somehow there should be a balance. We are not only teaching kids to play the games of our heritage, we are also connecting with their parents and grandparents who all once played the games --- so that family meal conversations will be a happy conversation scene when the parents come home, after the kids just played larong Pinoy outdoors.

Play with your kids one Sunday. It will be a happy time together. The memories of the game together will last a lifetime --- just like your memories :-))

Salamat sa magandang alaala na iyong pinarating dito sa game site. Mabuti a t sariwa pa sa inyo ang mga alaalang ito --- a naglaro pa ulit kayo :-) This is the advocacy that both Lucky Me! and Magna Kultura is striving to achieve: to enrich the lives of the new generation of kids. Para balang araw, tulad ninyo, may sasariwain ding alala ang mga kabataan ngayon.

Salamat sa iyong pagbisita, Jason. Balik ka ulit dito sa site namin.

The children of today doesn't know how fun it is to play the "larong Pinoy " that we have experienced.

everytime i'm asked what sport I played during my varsity years, i would answer, "varsity ako ng patintero, posisyon ko, patotot!"...and it would elicit a laugh, but hey! if there was a real patintero varsity team during my childhood "era", i would certainly be part of the first five!...haha!

I salute Magna Kultura and LuckyMe for bringing back Larong Pinoy, it does not only re-live and reminisce my childhood memories, (as a batang kalye at adik sa patintero) it makes me real proud to be part of a great Filipino heritage.

Mahalin kasi natin ang sariling atin! :)

Thanks Magna Kultura and Lucky Me, again, continue to keep the fire burning...ang playing! :)

Mabuhay Kayo!!!
